Chunni engagement ceremony

Posted on 30 December 2014 by

Engagement photography shoots tend to follow a similar pattern in the UK these days – a casual get together in some surroundings that mean a lot to the couple, taking natural shots that serve as an intimate counterpoint to the more formal shots on the wedding day itself. As much as I love this kind of photography it’s always good to see something different, so I was delighted to be invited to photograph an Indian chunni engagement ceremony just after Christmas. The idea was a for a blend of the traditional Indian ceremony with a more modern party and it was wonderful to behold. The ceremony itself was the centrepiece of the event with the bride-to-be being dressed and adorned by friends and family, culminating in her being draped in a chunni scarf, marking the transition from a single to an engaged woman. It’s always a privilege to be involved in such an important event in the lives of so many people.

Are you planning an engagement party or any other kind of event? Get in touch with me to talk about how my photography can compliment the special day.
